Privacy Policy

How we handle information for students, parents and guardians, teachers, and school administrators using SEA Talent Search.

Effective date: 9 October 2026

Your privacy matters. SEA Talent Search ("SEA", "we", "our", or "us") provides educational practice, assessments, and learning insights. This policy explains what information may be collected through our website, Android application, and related services, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

This policy is intended for students, including children, and for their parents or guardians, teachers, and school administrators. Please read it with a parent/guardian or school representative if you are a student.

2. Information we may collect

The information we collect depends on which SEA features you use and what you or your school submit. It may include:

  • Student and account information: name, class or grade, school name, account identifier, and details needed to register, sign in, or provide a learning service.
  • Parent or guardian details: contact information supplied for registration, account support, notices, or consent where applicable.
  • Teacher and school information: name, role, school details, and contact information provided when a teacher or school representative enquires about or uses SEA services.
  • Learning and assessment information: practice answers, assessment responses, scores, completed activities, topic-level performance, progress, and learning reports generated from that activity.
  • Messages and support requests: information you include when contacting us or reporting a problem.
  • Technical and diagnostic information: information that may be recorded by the website, hosting platform, or app to operate securely and troubleshoot problems, such as IP address, device/browser details, timestamps, app version, and error or server logs.
  • Payment-related information, if a paid feature is offered: payment status and transaction/reference details needed to confirm a payment and provide the purchased service. Payment credentials such as UPI PINs are not requested by SEA and should only be entered in your payment app or bank interface.

Please do not submit unnecessary sensitive personal information in account fields, practice responses, or support messages.

3. How we use information

We use information only for legitimate educational, operational, safety, and support purposes, including to:

  • create and manage accounts and provide access to SEA services;
  • deliver practice activities, assessments, results, and learning-progress reports;
  • identify strengths and areas where a student may benefit from further practice;
  • help parents, teachers, and authorised school representatives understand learning progress where the service provides that access;
  • respond to enquiries, provide technical support, and communicate important service information;
  • maintain the security, reliability, and performance of the website and app;
  • verify paid subscriptions or registrations where applicable; and
  • meet legal obligations and protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users and the service.

Learning reports are intended to support learning. They should not be treated as a complete measure of a child's ability or as a substitute for a teacher's or parent's judgement.

4. Children's privacy and parental/school involvement

SEA is designed to support school-age learners, including children. We aim to collect only information reasonably needed to provide the educational service.

  • Children should use SEA with the involvement of a parent/guardian or their school, as appropriate.
  • Parents/guardians and schools should ensure that they have the authority and any consent required to provide a child's information to SEA.
  • We do not intend for children to provide information that is unrelated to educational participation or account support.
  • We do not sell children's personal information.
  • We do not use children's learning information to build advertising profiles for targeted advertising.

If you are a parent/guardian and believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately, or you want to review, correct, or request deletion of a child's information, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity and authority before acting.

5. When we share information

We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information in the following circumstances:

  • With a student's school, teacher, or authorised administrator: where needed to provide a school-based SEA service or where the school has arranged the service and is authorised to receive the relevant educational information.
  • With service providers: vendors that help us host the website and database, maintain security, deliver the service, or provide technical support. These providers may process information only as needed to provide their services to us and subject to applicable safeguards.
  • For payments: with a bank, UPI app, or payment provider involved in a transaction, where applicable. Those providers handle payment information under their own terms and privacy policies.
  • For legal and safety reasons: where disclosure is required by law or is reasonably necessary to protect users, prevent fraud or abuse, or protect the security of SEA.
  • Business changes: if SEA's operation is reorganised or transferred, information may be transferred only as permitted by law and with appropriate protections.

We do not make student information publicly visible by default. Any school or account sharing should be limited to authorised users and the purpose for which the information was collected.

6. Third-party infrastructure and links

SEA uses third-party technology providers to operate its services, which may include cloud hosting and database infrastructure. These providers may process or store information on our behalf. Their own privacy and security practices also apply to the services they provide.

SEA may link to external websites, app stores, or payment applications. We do not control those services, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing information to them.

7. Data retention and deletion

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain learning records, support schools and users, resolve disputes, meet legal or accounting requirements, and protect service security. Retention periods may differ depending on the type of information and the service used.

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information by emailing support@seatalentsearch.org. We will review the request and respond in accordance with applicable law. Some records may need to be retained where legally required or necessary for legitimate operational purposes.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No website, app, or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please protect account credentials and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law and your relationship with SEA, you or your parent/guardian may request to:

  • learn what personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • request deletion of information, subject to lawful retention requirements;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
  • raise a concern about how information is handled.

To make a request, email support@seatalentsearch.org and describe your request. Please do not include passwords or other highly sensitive information in your email.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

The website or app infrastructure may use essential storage, session, or similar technologies to keep the service working, maintain sign-in sessions, and protect security. If non-essential analytics or similar technologies are introduced, this policy should be updated to explain what they collect and how users can manage them.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services, data practices, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be published on this page with a revised effective date. Please review it periodically.
